Final Major Project:

‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’

First Class Honours Award.

The Garden of Earthly Delights | Final Major Project My final project for my BA Textile Design degree cumulated in a creative and colourful exploration into hyper-embellished and embroidered surfaces, jewellery and accessory pieces. I began looking closely into the relationship between feminism and fashion, gender equality and the 'gender neutral trend' within the fashion industry today. I wrote my own trend story called 'The Garden of Earthly Delights', and developed my final collection in direct connection to this. My trend reimagined the unjust story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in a modern day style narrative in which gender inequality is no longer an issue. I also explored the boundaries of femininity and masculinity and how the two can work side by side. The aesthetic of the project included a highly saturated colour palette, 3-dimensional hand made embellishments made from polymer clay and hand cut appliqués. The collection comprises of contemporary floral designs for women's wear, menswear and gender neutral fashion accessories along with conceptual jewellery pieces.
