BCU Degree Show Judging 2019.

As a BCU alumni, I was honoured to be invited back in 2019 to judge the end of year degree show and award 2 students with prizes for the ‘Best Digital Engagement’ and the ‘Luxury Market Award’.

As the winner for the ‘Luxury Market’ award, I chose Rosie Gee. I was blown away by Rosie’s work and she was the clear and outstanding winner for this category in my eyes with her stunning range of couture fashion embroideries. It was so wonderful to see such a throughly resolved project where embroidery skill and craftsmanship had been pushed to such a a high level creating such beautiful outcomes.

I chose Esme Harris as the winner of the ‘Best Digital Engagement’ award as I felt her work was unlike anything else in the exhibition! She has a truly unique vibe to her space, a really fresh point of view and a beautiful contemporary aesthetic about her work. I loved the conceptual and creative use of the digital embroidery alongside her stunning photography and both digital and hand image manipulations were so interesting! Exciting, intriguing and different!

The beautiful prize illustrations were created by my friend and colleague, Joseph Larkowsky of MK 2019 finale Looks.
